TV DIGITIZATION: NBC Flags-off Digitization of TV Broadcasting in Jos

The National Broadcasting Commission NBC has chosen Plateau State as the first state to flag off the digitization of Television broadcasting in the country.
Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission NBC, Emeka Mba who disclosed this while on a courtesy visit on the governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang said Jos has all the elements to start the digitization process.
Emeka Mba also announced that based on the proposed dateline by the International Telecommunication Union ITU for the world to transform from analogue mode of broadcasting to digital, the NBC has set December 2014 as analogue switch off in Nigeria.
The Director General debunked the insinuations that people will need to do away with their old TV sets after the analogue switch off as they will function but with the aid of a set up box.
Governor Jonah Jang told the DG that his administration has repositioned the state media houses to fully embrace the digitization process.
Media executives in the state who accompanied the DG on the visit bare their minds on the take off of digital television broadcasting in the state.
The National Broadcasting Commission has targeted 17th of June 2015 to achieve the digitization of Television Broadcasting in Nigeria.
