President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria has been honoured
with Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize by Millennium Excellence
Foundation Chanels TV has reported.
After the award was giving to him, he dedicated it to all Nigerians for the unity in the country.
The event was held on Friday night in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
President Goodluck Jonathan was represented by the Vice President, Namadi Sambo.
He
expressed happiness that the Millennium Excellence Foundation chose
Nigeria as host of this year’s event which he added was significant to
Nigeria since it held at the country’s centenary.
Accepting the
Lifetime African Achievement Prize for Leadership, National Cohesion and
stability in Africa, President Jonathan said that Africa was in an era
where her political independence must be translated into economic and
social benefit for the people.
He urged African leaders not to
allow personal interest jeopardise the collective fight against ills
that threaten African nations.
The Lifetime Africa Achievement
Prize is an annual event organised to honour outstanding Africans who
have made outstanding contributions to the development of Africa.
